Q: What is Syn®Ake ?

A: Syn®Ake Swiss Technology Award winner 2006. Syn®-Ake is a new anti-wrinkle active compound based on a synthetic tripeptide that mimics the effect of waglerin 1, a peptide that is found in the venom of the TempleViper, Tropidolaemus wagleri. Syn-®Ake is an excellent anti-wrinkle active compound with a snake venom-like mode of activity.

A: Yes. The snakes kept at Pentapharm in Brazil are kept in natural conditions to allow them to be monitored acting as they would in the wild.  Pentapharm would not be able to analyse the snake activities, venom, etc. if the snakes were not kept in natural conditions.

A: None of our products or ingredients are tested on animals. We believe that it is morally wrong to use animals for testing, the only true test is on the human body; thus any testing required is by groups of volunteers. No product has ever been tested on animals, and raw materials are sourced only from those suppliers who share the same ethical stance.

A:  Parabens-- such as propylparaben, ethylparaben and butylparaben--are synthetic preservatives commonly used in cosmetics and personal care products. They are added to kill bacteria, prevent the growth of mould and prolong the shelf life of the product. They are suspected to be endocrine disruptors, and  have been found to mimic estrogen in laboratory experiments. There have been many debates recently, which centre on the health risks associated with using parabens in skincare products. The issues range from parabens allegedly being linked to causing cancer, reducing men’s sperm production, causing the skin to age when exposed to UV light as well as causing skin irritations and allergic skin reactions. The controversy concerning Parabens is likely to continue for some time and it is unlikely that opinion leaders will agree. There is a great deal of information on the subject and research companies who favour the use of parabens argue that those manufacturers creating products using natural preservatives are merely scare-mongering to benefit their own cause.
